WHY, oh why is EVERYONE so FASCINATED by this?

So they made a POLITICAL statement. It's not new (the Chinese sweat shop idea), it's not particularly funny, and it's grim. It's not even sarcastic or ironic. Completely devoid of humor.
What am I missing here? It's NOT BAD. Just NOT particularly GOOD either... Or, did I miss a news item that SOMEHOW makes it RELEVANT...? sigh.
